The Cornwall (Manor) Grist Mill - A Pictoral History

Trump) by Bruce Chadbourne The Grist Mill Residents walking through the Cornwall Manor meadow on Wildflower Lane will notice with some wonder the red sandstone walls of a small canal adjacent to the paved path. Excepting old photographs this is all that remains of one of Cornwall Manor’s hidden treasures, the great Cornwall Grist Mill. What a story it can still tell! Located on the overgrown western edge of Cornwall Manor property, beyond the turn in Wildflower Lane this mill was likely built by the Grubb family in the mid-1700s, taken over when the estate was acquired by Robert Coleman. It had fallen into disrepair sometime before World War II but remained standing at the time the estate became the Methodist Church Home, now known as Cornwall Manor.
